Modular Laser System stLase Wins a 2012 GOOD DESIGN™ Award

In December 2012 the modular laser system stLase (represented in the global market under the brand name Alta®) developed within close partnership between Photonics, a portfolio company of Maxwell Biotech Venture Fund and RVC Seed Fund, and the US company Dental Photonics Inc. won a prestigious 2012 GOOD DESIGN™ Award in the nomination Medical 2012. This is the second prestigious international award in the field of design won by the laser system stLase in late 2012. The first was the iF Product Design Award 2013, which was previously reported.

“We are excited about the continuing recognition of the best-in-class design and superior quality,” remarked Alexander Vybornov, Dental Photonics Chief Executive Officer.  “Building upon the years of research and development, the Alta® MLS is the first dental laser platform with no obsolescence that offers distinct advantages in speed, safety and ease of use.”

Founded in 1950 and managed by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, GOOD DESIGN remains the oldest and the world's most recognized program  for design excellence worldwide. For 2012, the Museum received submissions from several thousand of the world's leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms from over 48 countries. In November 2012, the jury met in New York and selected over 700 product designs and graphics from over 38 nations worthy of the GOOD DESIGN Award for their Design Excellence. stLase (Alta® MLS) became one of the 27 winners in Medical 2012.

stLase (Alta® MLS) is the first compact modular laser device that allows for the integration of the targeted dental lasers intended for a wide range of treatment modalities.  It is  comprised of an upgradable central console and application-specific modules that can be easily and quickly attached to the side of the unit.  The system is lightweight, portable, and can be placed on a table top or mounted on a wall for the ultimate flexibility required in any dental surgery setting.  A 7” interactive touch screen allows for intuitive device navigation and easy viewing from multiple angles and distances.

In 2012, Photonics completed registration procedures in Russia and held a number of marketing activities, which will allow the company to begin selling innovative laser system in Russia in early 2013.
